Mike Tyson was involved in one of the most controversial moments in boxing history. In 1997, in a rematch of the year before against Evander Holyfield at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Tyson bit Holyfield on both ears at the end of the third round. He was disqualified. Tyson first said the bite was a retaliation for Holyfield’s headbutts in prior contests, which were ruled as “accidental”. He later apologised for his action.
In the 2018 US Open final, former World No. 1 Serena Williams received a coaching violation after her coach made a gesture from the stands.
