A stunning performance’ – Andy Murray congratulates Taylor Swift on winning the Super Bowl Reveals he is crushing on The pop star
Tennis star Andy Murray has – with his tongue firmly in his cheek – passed on his congratulations to Taylor Swift on her ‘stunning performance’ to win the Super Bowl after the Kansas City Chiefs’ dramatic victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Much of the coverage both before and during the Las Vegas showdown surrounded Travis Kelce’s romance with singer-songwriter sensation Swift, with the power couple believed to be an item since last summer.
Many ardent supporters of the NFL have grown frustrated with the intense media spotlight on Kelce and Swift’s love story, with the focus seemingly taken away from the game itself at times across the campaign. However, the presence of one of pop music’s biggest stars has undoubtedly attracted interest from those who may otherwise not have followed the sport and Swifties – the singer’s ultra-devoted fanbase.Kelce, who was involved in a bust-up with head coach Andy Reid during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 58 triumph, has repeatedly jumped to Swift’s defence and said the boos she received from rival fans showed ‘just how amazing that girl is’ earlier this season.
In the build-up to last night’s game, Chiefs tight end Kelce said: ‘She’s definitely brought a lot of new faces to the game and it’s been fun to experience that.‘She seems to be enjoying the games and she’s a part of Chiefs Kingdom right now. It’s fun seeing her enjoy the game of football knowing that it’s kind of new to her life.’
The TV cameras panned to Swift a number of times across the night’s action, with the Shake It Off singer sat beside actress and close friend Blake Lively in the stands Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.Pictures of Swift and Kelce sharing a celebratory kiss instantly went viral across social media and it appears the sentimental soppiness got a little too much for two-time Wimbledon champion Murray, who responded with a mocking post on X.
‘Congrats to @taylorswift13 on winning Super Bowl 58 [clapping emoji] a stunning performance,’ the Scot – known for his dry wit – said.On the day of Super Bowl 58, former US President Donald Trump took aim at Swift and claimed it was his lawmaking that paved the way for singer to reach superstardom – though said he was fond of her partner Kelce.
‘I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.
‘Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will. There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money. Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis, even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me!
