The WTA Ranking has been updated after the 2024 Australian Open and sees in the main movements, Coco Gauff returning to the top three to join Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka with battle raging for the World No.1 spot in the coming months.

Both Gauff and Jessica Pegula each slide up one spot, the former returns to her career high of World No.3, while Pegula jumps up to World No.4. This was a legacy of Elena Rybakina not defending her points total from 12 months ago, and slipping to fifth. The battle will also rage between Sabalenka and Swiatek as the former will be tied on points with Swiatek as per Dubai and defending 2000 points and Swiatek not getting close to gaining 1,800 sets up an interesting dynamic as Sabalenka will likely regain top spot in the coming months in a back and forth starting between the top names.

Joining that top table includes Zheng Qinwen who will be in the top ten as per this week. She went up eight spots to crack the top 10 for the first time. She rises to number eight, which sees Jelena Ostapenko down to number 12. The Chinese ace joins Li Na as one of the only two Chinese players to reach the top 10.

Other movement sees Dayana Yastremska up 64 spots and back into the top 30 after becoming the first women’s singles qualifier to reach the Australian Open semi-finals since 1978. Elina Svitolina will also return to the top 20 for the first time since spring of 2022. Linda Noskova and Marta Kostyuk are also set for top 30 debuts. While Mirra Andreeva is up to World No.35 in the world after reaching the third round, another career high.

Anna Kalinskaya’s run also gleamed a 37 spot rise as she went up to World No.38. Magdalena Frech also reaching the Last 16 jumped to a career high of No.51 and given Magda Linette not being at her best for some time could seal the Polish Number Two spot very soon.WTA RANKING – 29/01/2024
